Itinerary

Day 1 ARRIVE SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA.
Upon arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel.

Day 2 SAN JOSE / TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK.
Head east across the Central Valley to the Caribbean coast. Arrive at Matina, where your panga will be waiting to start your expedition through the Canals of Tortuguero. Glide through densely vegetated areas deep in the jungle in search of monkeys, toucans and egrets. Your ride through the winding waterways dotted with water hyacinths ends at the park lodge where you will spend the next two nights. (B,L,D)

Important Note: For the excursion to Tortuguero National Park, passengers are permitted to bring a maximum of 25 lbs. of luggage. Your main suitcase will be stored in San Jose to be collected upon your return on Day 4.

Day 3 TORTUGUERO NATIONAL PARK.
Today explore Tortuguero National Park. This region is mostly made up of wet swamp forest with a system of natural and man-made canals running through it. It receives the heaviest amount of rain in the country, providing a perfect haven for some of the most amazing flora and fauna in the world. Sloths, iguanas, crocodiles and hundreds of species of birds make their home here. The Park is most famous for the nesting green sea turtles that visit every two to four years. Boat tours will take you into the small canals of the Park and a walk through the rainforest gives you the chance to see some of the flora and fauna closer. (B,L,D)

Day 4 TORTUGUERO / SAN JOSE / ARENAL.
Early this morning, fly back to San Jose, then head to La Fortuna, home of famous Arenal Volcano. Active since 1968, Arenal emits regular eruptions of ash and rocks. Thrill to views of one of Costa Rica's most active volcanoes from the comfort of your hotel. Later this afternoon visit the Tabacon Mineral Hot Springs and relax in a mineral pool or hot spring fed by Arenal – an unforgettable experience. (B,D)
