NAIROBI, KENYA.
Upon arrival, you will be met and
transferred to your hotel.
Day 3 NAIROBI
/ KILIMANJARO, TANZANIA / ARUSHA.
This morning, you will be transferred to
the airport for the short flight to
Kilimanjaro. Upon arrival, you will be
met and driven to your lodge, set in the
midst of a coffee plantation just
outside of Arusha. (B)
Day 4 ARUSHA / LAKE MANYARA.
Take a guided morning walk around Lake
Duluti. Then, after lunch, travel to
Lake Manyara National Park. This small
Park is a wonderland with views across
the lake into the Rift Valley. Lions,
elephants, hippos, and hundreds of
species of birds make their homes here.
Your lodge is set on a bluff overlooking
the lake. (B,L,D)
Day 5 LAKE MANYARA / SERENGETI.
Game drive in Lake Manyara National
Park, followed by lunch and an afternoon
drive to the Serengeti. Covering 5,600
square miles, Serengeti National Park is
home to one of the largest and most
diverse wild animal populations in
Africa. (B,L,D)
Day 6 SERENGETI.
In the language of the Maasai, Serengeti
means "the endless plains that go up to
the sky." Here you enjoy sweeping vistas
of the savannah. Look for lion, leopard,
cheetah, wildebeest, Thompson’s gazelle,
zebra and more on morning and afternoon
game drives. (B,L,D)
Day 7
SERENGETI / NGORONGORO.
Drive to Olduvai Gorge, site of Louis
and Mary Leakey’s renowned
archaeological discoveries. Their
findings include some of man’s earliest
known ancestral remains. After a picnic
lunch, on to Ngorongoro. (B,L,D)
Day 8 NGORONGORO CRATER.
Travel to the crater floor, one of
Africa’s most captivating wildlife
areas. Descend nearly 2,000 feet into
this extinct collapsed volcano to
experience spectacular game viewing.
Vast herds of zebra, wildebeest,
gazelle, and their predators, the big
cats, roam the crater floor. Look for
the rare black rhino grazing in and near
the lakes. This afternoon, visit a
Maasai village. Then, return to the
lodge for dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 9
NGORONGORO CRATER / TARANGIRE.
Head towards Tarangire National Park,
famed for its large elephant population.
Take an afternoon game drive to search
for elephants, elands, impala, buffalo,
zebra, wildebeest and birds of prey. (B,L,D)
Day 10
TARANGIRE / ARUSHA / KILIMANJARO /
DEPART NAIROBI.
Take one last opportunity to photograph
the majestic Masai Steppe filled with
colorful villages and maize, coffee and
sugar plantations. After a break for
lunch in Arusha, transfer to airport for
your flight to Nairobi. On arrival, you
will be met and taken to the famous
Carnivore Restaurant for your final
dinner in Africa. Later, transfer back
to the airport for your overnight flight
home. (B,L,D)
Day 11 ARRIVE
USA.
You arrive home today.
Visas
are required for Tanzania. Non-U.S.
citizens should check with their
respective consulates.
It is prudent to consult your
physician regarding taking
anti-malaria pills.
As some East African roads and
game park trails can be very
rough, we do not recommend this
tour to people with back
problems.
It is customary to reward your
safari driver/ guide with a
gratuity of about $4-$5 per day
per tour member for a good
performance. |
