Itinerary

Day 1 BOARD YOUR OVERNIGHT TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT.

Day 2 ARRIVE IN ROME, ITALY.
Welcome to Italy! Upon arrival you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure in the “Eternal City.” You may want to relax, or perhaps start exploring on your own.

Day 3 ROME.
“Rome was not built in a day,” so the saying goes. The wealth of monuments, statues, buildings, temples and more attests to this observation. With a history dating back at least as far as 753 B.C., the true origins of the city are enveloped in myth and legend. The most popular story tells of two brothers, Romulus and Remus, who were abandoned, then found and raised by a wolf. According to the legend, Romulus killed Remus during a quarrel, then founded a city he named after himself – Rome. Once established, the city quickly grew, with kings and emperors leaving their marks by means of imposing structures, a myriad of which are still standing – at least in part. See many of these ancient buildings and some of their more modern counterparts on a city sightseeing tour with a knowledgeable local guide. Your tour includes all the main attractions: Republic Square, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, St. Angelo Castle and impressive St. Peter's Basilica. The afternoon and evening are at leisure. Your local host will be available to help you make the most of your time. (B)

Day 4 ROME.
A full free day in this historic city. You may want to explore the remains of ancient Rome in more depth, or visit one of the many museums and galleries. Stroll down the popular shopping street Via Condotti, visit the romantic Spanish Steps, or relax in a café or restaurant. Discover Rome's hidden treasures at your own pace or join one of the exciting optional excursions that will be available. The choice is yours – there is plenty to do and see in the “City of the Seven Hills.” (B)

Day 5 ROME / SORRENTO.
This morning transfer on your own to the Rome train station for your trip to Naples. Upon arrival here, you will be met and transferred to Sorrento and your selected hotel. The balance of the day is at leisure. (B)

Days 6-7 SORRENTO.
Set on the beautiful Gulf of Naples, Sorrento is a historic and elegant resort, surrounded by lemon and orange groves, gardens, lush green hills and wonderful beaches. This is an ideal spot for a relaxing getaway, with spectacular views, a temperate climate, and a variety of activities, shops, restaurants, pubs and night clubs. Enjoy two full days at leisure here. There is much to see, from historic sites to natural wonders. Explore the town on your own, viewing centuries-old churches, piazzas, cathedrals, museums and more. You may just want to relax on the beach and enjoy the magnificent views. For the more adventurous, perhaps join an optional excursion to Pompeii. Take a guided tour of this ancient city, buried under volcanic ash when Mt. Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. Another option is a trip to the Island of Capri. Walk through the narrow, winding streets, past shops and sidewalk cafés, or visit the Blue Grotto (subject to weather conditions), an enchantingly beautiful natural cavern. (B daily)

Day 8 SORRENTO / DEPART NAPLES.
Today transfer to the airport in Naples for your onward flight. Extra nights are available if you wish to extend your stay in Europe. (B)
