Day 1
DEPART USA / LIMA, PERU. Board
your flight to the “Land of the Incas.”
Upon arrival, you are transferred to
your hotel.
Day 2
LIMA.
This morning’s sightseeing tour visits
the Plaza Mayor, with its Colonial era
treasures – the Goverment Palace, the
City Hall, the Cathedral and the
Archbishop’s Palace. Next, visit Casa
Aliaga, America’s best-preserved
colonial mansion, occupied by the same
family since 1535. On to the magnificent
16th century San Francisco Monastery,
whose cloisters are adorned with tiles
from Seville. Finally, drive through the
residential districts of San Isidro and
Miraflores for a view of the Pacific
Ocean. Enjoy lunch, then return to your
hotel. The rest of your day is free. (B,L)
Day 3 LIMA
/ SACRED VALLEY.
Private transfer to the airport for your
scenic flight to Cuzco. You are met and
taken on a tour of Urubamba, better
known as "The Sacred Valley of the
Incas," one of the most scenic areas
found anywhere in the world. Visit
Ollantaytambo where you will take a
walking tour through the quaint village
and mix with the locals. Continue
outside of town and admire the
magnificent Inca fortress. End the day
at Pisac, where you will have an
opportunity to bargain with the vendors
for Peruvian arts and crafts. (B,L)
Day 4
SACRED VALLEY.
You may want to take an optional rafting
trip on the Urubamba River (Class 2) to
get a unique view of this interesting
area. This afternoon, head to the
picturesque town of Maras and the
agricultural terraces at the
archaeological site of Moray. (B)
NOTE: The trip to Maras and Moray is
subject to favorable road conditions.
Should this trip cancel, another
excursion will be offered.
Day 5
SACRED VALLEY / MACHU PICCHU.
Transfer to Ollanta Station for the
first-class autorail trip to Machu
Picchu. On arrival at Aguas Calientes,
ascend by coach to the magnificent ruins
of the “Lost City of the Incas” for a
guided walking tour. (B,L,D)
Day 6
MACHU PICCHU / CUZCO.
Early risers may walk through Machu
Picchu at sunrise, with the rest of the
morning free. Perhaps a climb up Huayna
Picchu for hiking enthusiasts. This
afternoon, take the train back to Cuzco.

Day 7
CUZCO.
A walking tour includes La Compania
cathedral and Koricancha temple. Then
there is free time to stroll through the
town and enjoy the many arts and crafts
shops. Next, visit archaeological Inca
ruins including the fortress of
Sacsayhuaman, site of Inca religious
celebrations; Tambomachay; and the
remarkable Kenko Amphitheater. This
evening, savor an Andean dinner at a
local restaurant, followed by a colorful
folklore show. (B,D)
Day 8
CUZCO / LIMA.
Transfer to the airport for your flight
to Lima. This afternoon, join a tour to
the famed Larco Herrera and
Archaeological Museums. The balance of
your day is free. Tonight, enjoy a
special Peruvian dinner at a unique
local restaurant. (B,D)
Day 9
DEPART LIMA / USA.
You are transferred to the airport for
your return flight home, arriving the
same day. (B)

Day 8, Fri. CUZCO / LIMA /
QUITO, ECUADOR. Fly to Quito, the capital of
Ecuador. You will be met at the
airport and transferred to your

Day 9, Sat. QUITO / BALTRA
ISLAND / SANTA CRUZ ISLAND. This morning’s flight over the
Pacific lands at Baltra, one of
the remote Galapagos Islands.
Transfer to your ship, the M/V
Galapagos Explorer II. This
afternoon visit Cerro Dragon
(Dragon Hill), on Santa Cruz
Island. This is a great place to
spot land iguanas, flamingoes,
Darwin’s finches and pintail
ducks. (B,L,D)
Day 10, Sun. BARTHOLOME ISLAND /
SANTIAGO ISLAND. Bartholome Island is best known
for its volcanic features. After
a short hike past salt bushes
and cactus, delight in the
dramatic view. Next, stop in a
cove with a chance for
snorkeling next to Galapagos
penguins, the only penguins
north of the equator. This
afternoon visit Santiago Island
with its black beach and
dramatic rock formations. Keep
an eye open for fur sea lions
and oystercatchers. (B,L,D)
Day 11, Mon. FERNANDINA ISLAND /
ISABELA ISLAND. Cruise to Fernandina Island.
From Punta Espinoza, your guide
walks you through a mangrove
forest and across the black
volcanic rock to see marine
iguanas and sea lions. This
afternoon visit Punta Vicente
Roca on Isabela Island. This
promontory is set overlooking
two beautiful coves. Enjoy a
panga ride in the quiet water. (B,L,D)
Day 12, Tue. NORTH SEYMOUR
ISLAND / SANTA CRUZ ISLAND. North Seymour is home to sea
lions, marine iguanas and
blue-footed boobies. Vegetation
in the dry interior areas of the
island includes prickly pear
cacti, palo santos trees and
salt bushes. This afternoon on
Santa Cruz Island, board a coach
for a tour of the highlands.
Here, giant tortoises live wild.
There is also time to hike the
tunnels made by cooling lava. (B,L,D)
Day 13, Wed. SAN CRISTOBEL
ISLAND / QUITO. Disembark at Puerto Baquerizo
Moreno, a small attractive port
and the capital of the Islands.
Visit the Interpretation Center
that focuses on the history and
wildlife of the area. Another
option is to take a short ride
to Loberia, keeping watch for
sea lions and birds. Later fly
back to Quito where your evening
is free. (B)
Day 14, Thu. QUITO / USA. Your homebound flight arrives
the same day. Extra nights are
available in Quito if you wish
