BOARD YOUR OVERNIGHT TRANSATLANTIC
FLIGHT.
Day 2
ARRIVE NAIROBI, KENYA.
Early evening arrival in Kenya’s modern
capital, you are transferred from the
airport to the Safari Park Hotel.
Remainder of the day is free.
Day 3
NAIROBI / MASAI MARA.
After breakfast, depart for the Masai
Mara Game Reserve. Drive through the
spectacular Great Rift Valley, arriving
at your lodge in time for lunch. This
afternoon, enjoy a game drive in Masai
Mara National Park, which boasts the
richest concentration of wildlife in
Kenya. Its savannah plains are famous
for the annual migration of wildebeest
in search of the best grazing areas. (B,L,D)
Day 4
MASAI MARA.
A full day game viewing in the Mara. The
"Big Five" – lion, elephant, rhino,
leopard and buffalo – may be seen, as
well as the cheetah. (B,L,D)
Day 5
MASAI MARA / GREAT RIFT VALEY / LAKE
NAKURU / LAKE NAIVASHA.
This morning, travel through the Great
Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru, considered
the finest place
on earth for birdwatching. See
cormorants, pelicans, hornbills, and the
most spectacular of wildlife spectacles
– thousands of birds, mainly flamingos,
lining the banks of the lake, stretching
out across the water in a pink haze.
After lunch, enjoy a game drive in this
relatively small park which has been
designated a rhino sanctuary. Then
travel on to Lake Naivasha, one of only
two freshwater lakes in the Great Rift
Valley. (B,L,D)
Day 6 LAKE
NAIVASHA / NAIROBI / AMBOSELI.
Head back to Nairobi, then continue on
to Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is
situated at the foot of Mount
Kilimanjaro, towering 19,430 feet above
the plains. Your game viewing starts
this afternoon. (B,L,D)
Day 7
AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK.
A full day of game viewing beginning
with an early morning game drive, when
the slopes of majestic Kilimanjaro are
normally at their most picturesque.
Watch for giraffes, cape buffalo and
lions today. Amboseli is also renowned
for its superb viewing of elephants. (B,L,D)
Day 8
AMBOSELI / ARUSHA / LAKE MANYARA,
TANZANIA.
Cross the border into Tanzania at
Namanga, then on to Arusha for lunch.
Drive across the Masai Steppe to Lake
Manyara. This small park is a scenic
wonderland with views across the lake
into the Rift Valley. Lions, elephants,
hippos, and hundreds of species of birds
make their homes here. (B,L,D)
Day 9 LAKE
MANYARA / SERENGETI.
Tour Lake Manyara National Park this
morning, then on to the Serengeti.
Covering 5,600 square miles, Serengeti
National Park is home to one of the
largest and most diverse wild animal
populations on earth. (B,L,D)
Day 10
SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK.
Delight in a full day of game viewing in
the Serengeti. Wildebeest, Thompson’s
gazelle and zebra gather for annual
migrations, attracting a great deal of
attention from their predators – lion,
leopard, cheetah and hyena. (B,L,D)
Day 11
SERENGETI / NGORONGORO.
Morning excursion to Olduvai Gorge, site
of Louis and Mary Leakey’s renowned
archaeological discoveries. Their
findings include some of man’s earliest
known ancestral remains. Continue to
Ngorongoro. (B,L,D)
Day 12
NGORONGORO CRATER.
Travel by Land Rover to the Ngorongoro
Crater floor, one of Africa’s most
captivating wildlife areas. Descend
nearly 2,000 feet into this extinct
collapsed volcano to experience
spectacular game viewing. Vast herds of
zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, and their
predators roam the crater floor. Look
for the rare black rhino grazing in and
near the lakes. This afternoon, visit a
Maasai village before returning to the
lodge for dinner. (B,L,D)
Day 13
NGORONGORO / TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK.
Leave Ngorongoro, heading to Tarangire
National Park. After lunch at your
lodge, take an afternoon game drive to
search out elephants, elands, impala,
buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and birds of
prey. Return to your lodge at sunset. (B,L,D)
Day 14,
Sat. TARANGIRE / DEPART NAIROBI.
One last opportunity to watch for game
as you drive back to Arusha. After a
stop for lunch, continue your journey to
Nairobi. Enjoy a Farewell Dinner at the
world-renown Carnivore Restaurant. Then
you will be transferred to the airport
for your flight home. (B,L,D)
Day 15, Sun.
ARRIVE USA. You arrive home today.
Check with your
travel agent for the latest visa,
passport and health requirements for
Kenya and Tanzania. At the time of
printing, a visa is required for U.S.
citizens for Kenya and Tanzania. Non-U.S.
citizens should check with their
consulates.
It is prudent to consult your physician
regarding taking anti-malaria pills.
Proof is needed of yellow fever
vaccination for travel between Tanzania
and Kenya.
As some East African roads and game park
trails can be very rough, we do not
recommend this tour to people with back
problems.
It is customary to reward your safari
driver/ guide with a gratuity of about
$4-$5 per day per tour member for a good
performance.
