Itinerary

Day 1 DEPART USA.
Board your overnight flight to Manaus.

Day 2 ARRIVE MANAUS, BRAZIL.
On arrival, you are met and privately transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is set aside to rest and relax.

Day 3 MANAUS / AMAZON JUNGLE.
Transfer to the pier for a full day cruise/ tour of the Meeting of the Waters. Afterward you will be taken to the lodge of your choice (see page 17 for lodge descriptions). (B,L,D)

Day 4 AMAZON JUNGLE.
A full day to do as you please. You might want to trek in the jungle, enjoy a canoe ride on the river to learn more about the flora and fauna and perhaps meet the local Amazonian residents (Caboclos). Keep your eyes open for monkeys, alligators, river dolphin, brilliantly colored birds and more. (B,L,D)

Day 5 AMAZON JUNGLE / RIO DE JANEIRO.
This morning visit the Jungle Monkey and then transfer back to Manaus for the flight to Rio where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. (B)

Day 6 RIO DE JANEIRO.
Start the day with a drive past Copacabana and Ipanema, two of the world’s most famous beaches. Then take a cable car ride up Sugar Loaf Mountain. Return to your hotel via Flamingo Park and downtown. Your afternoon is free. (B)

Day 7 RIO DE JANEIRO.
Today, drive through the fashionable Barra District with its stately homes. Corcovado Mountain is next with the 122-foot, 1,400-ton giant statue of Christ the Redeemer. From here, enjoy panoramic views of Rio and its environs. On your return, see 200,000 seat Maracana Stadium, the world’s largest. Your afternoon and evening are at leisure. (B)

Day 8 RIO DE JANEIRO / IGUASSU FALLS.
Fly to Iguassu Falls where you will be met and taken to Argentine side of the Falls. See Devil’s Throat and have a chance to walk the Superior Path. (B)

Day 9 IGUASSU FALLS / SALVADOR.
Spend part of the morning on your own, exploring this magnificent panorama from the Brazilian side. This is truly one of nature's wonders. Later fly to the colorful and historic city of Salvador. (B)

Day 10 SALVADOR.
Begin your day with a tour of the old section of Salvador, through narrow streets lined with buildings in the pastel shades of an era gone by. Your final stop is the Sao Francisco church with its gold leaf Baroque interior. The afternoon is unplanned so you can relax, shop or explore on your own. (B)

Day 11 SALVADOR.
Tour the lower section of Salvador with its historic homes. Along the waterfront meet the fishermen who still use dugout canoes, and the locals collecting shellfish. Then head up to theMonserrat district for a panoramic view. Finally, stop at Mercado Modelo, a thriving market with local artifacts. Your afternoon is free. (B)

Day 12 DEPART SALVADOR.
Free time before transferring to the airport for your flight home (via Sao Paulo). (B)

Day 13 ARRIVE USA. You arrive home today.
