Upon arrival you are met and transferred to your choice of hotel. The balance of the day is free.

Day 2, Sun. BELIZE CITY / JAGUAR PAW RESORT.
Transfer to the marina and board a self-driven, 4-person speedboat. Cruise through the inland waterways to Northern Lagoon, watching for crocodiles, nesting birds, and the gentle manatee. At Northern Lagoon, relish a picnic lunch. Later, travel by all terrrain vehicle through the Peccary Hills to Gracie Rock. Your guides will brief you on safety procedures, outline the route to be taken and distribute helmets. Then set out for the Maya Caves. To the Maya, caves were sacred places where important ceremonies were conducted to appease the gods of the underworld. After time to explore these ancient caves, return to Gracie Rock via jungle trails. Here, your escort and tour vehicle will be waiting to transfer you to the Jaguar Paw Resort. (B,L)

Today’s adventure starts with a jungle hike, leading to an underground cave system. Your guide hands out flashlights, and you are ready to float on inflated inner tubes, drifting through several miles of the caves. Later, on to the Cayo District and the impressive Maya site of Xunantunich. Cross the Mopan River by a 19th century ferry to "El Castillo" (the Castle), the largest temple at Xunantunich. Continue to your hotel in San Ignacio. (B,L)

Day 6, Thu. CAYO DISTRICT / AMBERGRIS CAYE.
Your first stop today is at the Belize Zoo. Created as a sanctuary for the country's indigenous species, the Zoo was first intended for animals which were injured and could not be returned to the wild. It is home to an impressive array of large cats, primates, reptiles and birds. On to the village of Burrel Boom, where you will board a riverboat and enjoy a leisurely cruise on the scenic Olde Belize River.
